Responsibilities

  • Sets up equipment and welding parts using various welding machines.
  • Collaborates with plumbers, pipefitter/welders, sheet metal workers, and HVAC workers as required.
  • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
  • Studies specifications, building plans, and shop drawings to determine work aids required.
  • Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
  • Ensures the work area is kept clean and orderly, adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Inspects the structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided during installation.
  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and fittings using hand and power tools.
  • Installs sleeves and leave outs for roof and wall penetrations.
  • Helps excavate, backfill, and tamp ditches using shovels, picks, and tampers.
  • Cuts, reams, solders, brazes, fuses, and threads pipe using various tools and techniques.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, fits, tack-welds, assembles, and installs valves, hangers, pipe, and fittings.
  • Bends pipe by hand or with a pipe-bending machine.
  • Fills pipe systems with water or air to determine system leaks.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Required certification in 6G Pipe welding with expertise in carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Preferably, 4+ years of experience as a Pipefitter/Welder Journeyman.
  • Trained and qualified to operate machinery such as scissor lifts, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
