Overview

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance-related repairs on all District-owned vehicles, ensuring they are safe and operational. This position is part of the Transportation South-Fleet department and requires a valid driver license and basic mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and services all District vehicles.
• Performs extensive monthly inspections on all vehicles in the school fleet.
• Performs on-the-road service calls for all District vehicles.
• Signs for all parts and materials issued by the parts manager and for service rendered to vehicles.
• Maintains fuel and oil levels in District vehicles.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Driver License required.
• Must be insurable by Fulton County Board of Education.
• Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver License with passenger, S, and air brake endorsements preferred.
• Some experience as a mechanic preferred.
• Excellent driving record.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
