Overview

The Traveling Electrical TIG Welder position at Electrical Builders, Ind. (EBI) involves working on critical power systems across the U.S., combining TIG welding with hands-on technical work. Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of electrical bus duct systems.
  • Conduct TIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel pipes.
  • Inspect, clean, and refurbish bus duct systems.
  • Install bus duct systems, including rigging, alignment, and torquing.
  • Follow procedures, blueprints, and safety standards with precision.
  • Maintain accurate job documentation and field logs.
  • Keep a clean and organized job site to support crew productivity.
  • Actively seek guidance and take direction from foremen and senior crew.
  • Prepare for daily safety briefings and show up on time.
  • Take computer-based tests for extended periods.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience with TIG Aluminum or Stainless Steel.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and earn certifications.
  • Comfortable with overnight travel.
  • Certification of Welding from an accredited school is preferred.
  • Comfortable with heights.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • OSHA 10 certification is required.
  • Ability to become certified in accordance with the company’s welding procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of raw materials, welding processes, and quality control.
  • Ability to read and write processes.
  • Physical ability to independently lift, carry, or maneuver up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to use computers and shop reference manuals.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading.

Additional Information

  • Travel is required 60% of the calendar year.
  • Extended overnight travel via airplane or vehicle is required.
  • Schedule varies by project and outage demands, with extended workweeks during active projects.
  • Travel assignments typically last 2–8 weeks, with some projects extending longer.
