Overview
At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, supporting a new advanced hardware program as a GTAW (TIG) Welder, where candidates will develop their welding skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual GTAW (TIG) welding operations on aerospace components under supervision.
- Prepare weld joints by cleaning, fitting, tacking, and positioning parts.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
- Perform visual self-inspection of completed welds and report defects.
- Set up and maintain GTAW welding equipment and select appropriate materials.
- Use hand tools and precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist senior welders with complex weld assemblies and post-weld operations.
- Participate in weld practice, qualification testing, and skills development.
- Support material handling and shop operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 0–10 years of GTAW (TIG) welding experience.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and technical instructions.
- Basic knowledge of GTAW welding fundamentals.
- Must pass a practical weld test on carbon steel or stainless steel.
- Comfortable using hand tools and basic precision measuring equipment.
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
