Overview
The Welder position involves working on U.S. Naval Ships in shipyards and drydocks, performing welding tasks in varying temperatures. The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience, with a focus on safety and adherence to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other materials.
- Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
- Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe, or templates.
- Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to position pieces that require welding into jigs and fixtures.
- May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Participates in special projects as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of related experience
- Blueprints, Welding, Welding Procedures skills
- US Citizenship required
