Overview
GE Aerospace has been part of the Beavercreek community for over 70 years, manufacturing gas turbine tubes, ducts, and manifolds. The Aerospace Tig Welder position involves welding metal components using Tig welding equipment on the 3rd shift.
Responsibilities
- Welds metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS).
- Connects cables from welding unit to obtain specified amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse.
- Starts power supply to produce electric current.
- Manually guides torch along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
- Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal and cleans weld joint.
- Positions or clamps workpieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
- May tack assemblies together.
- Uses a computer daily for checking email and viewing shop drawings.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of a TIG Welding Training Course or previous experience as a TIG welder with 6 months experience.
- Successful completion of the Unison-Dayton TIG Welding Assessment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Ability to read safety rules and related technical material.
- Ability to accurately read and complete forms.
- Must complete the Elano welding vision test annually.
- Ability to use standard shop measuring devices.
