The Value Stream Supervisor - Welding is responsible for leading welding operations, ensuring production flow, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day welding operations across a defined value stream, including manual and robotic welding processes.
- Manage WIP, identify bottlenecks, and balance workloads to maintain consistent throughput.
- Ensure welding execution aligns with fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and Bill of Materials (BOM) requirements.
- Maintain alignment with production schedules, on-time delivery, and downstream system integration needs.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement across welding operations.
- Apply structured problem solving methods including Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Improve cycle time and takt time through process optimization and waste reduction.
- Identify constraints within fabrication and welding flow and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and improve key metrics including First Pass Yield (FPY), weld quality, throughput, cycle time, takt time, safety, and rework.
- Drive reduction in weld defects and improve process consistency.
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001 standards and internal quality systems.
- Establish accountability for performance across the welding team.
- Partner with Engineering to resolve weld design, fit-up, and fabrication issues impacting flow.
- Work with Supply Chain to ensure material readiness and BOM accuracy.
