Overview
The Fabrication Welder at Komatsu is responsible for assembling and welding heavy mining equipment components to precise specifications, ensuring structural integrity and safety. This role involves interpreting blueprints, operating welding machinery, and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in the production of durable, high-performance products.
Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to accurately fabricate components according to engineering specifications.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on various metals including steel and alloy materials used in mining equipment.
- Set up and operate welding equipment and fabrication tools, including grinders, torches, and plasma cutters, ensuring proper calibration and safety.
- Inspect welds and finished components for quality, strength, and compliance with company and industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot fabrication issues and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Maintain a clear and organized work area, adhere to safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Document work performed and materials used supporting traceability and production reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of welding experience in manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Completion of a certified welding program or apprenticeship (MIG, TIG, Stick).
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Familiarity with welding safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to operate fabrication tools such as grinders, plasma cutters, and torches.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with heavy equipment or mining machinery components.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet production deadlines.
- Able to work any shift, weekends, and overtime.
