Overview

Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment, currently hiring a Senior Material Handler for their Southeast Houston manufacturing facility. The role involves handling, organizing, and keeping records of materials to support the designated division or department.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the receipt, stocking, and record keeping of new and existing materials.
• Communicate with staff and management team to identify material needs.
• Fill workstations with appropriate hardware and material, as identified.
• Maintain records of materials using a scanner or designated computer program.
• May utilize a forklift to transport, load, and unload materials.
• Learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents.
• Learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production.
• Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma preferred.
• 4 years of experience in a material handling role within a manufacturing environment.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere.
• Ability to learn computer systems, databases, and a variety of software programs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
• Ability to walk, stand, and be physically active for extended periods of time.
• Fluent in English and capable of communicating with co-workers.

Additional Information

• Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:15pm-12:45am; OT as needed.
• Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must be able to work from all types of ladders and perform overhead work.
