Overview
Swissport is a global leader in aviation services, providing Ground Handling, Cargo Handling, and Passenger Services to over 300 million passengers annually. The GSE Mechanic is responsible for the service and maintenance of Ground Service Equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with local laws.
Responsibilities
- Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment – motorized and non-motorized.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all ground support equipment per established schedules.
- Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment as required.
- Learn hydraulic systems and apply basic hydraulic knowledge.
- Complete airport deicing training and report to work during adverse weather conditions.
- Remove malfunctioning ground support equipment from service until repairs are completed.
- Respond to emergency service calls and accidents involving ground support equipment.
- Complete all maintenance and repair documentation as required.
- Comply with all security requirements set by federal, provincial, municipal, and airport authorities.
- Maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license for airside and non-airside operations.
- Follow all safety guidelines set out by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and management.
- Keep the GSE shop and its equipment clean and serviceable.
- Fuel equipment while adhering to safety and environmental requirements.
- Liaise professionally with Ramp management, customers, and staff.
- Work independently and report to shop leads daily.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Trade school training and/or a mechanical background preferred.
- Good oral and verbal communication skills.
- Good computer skills.
- Willingness to clean and maintain a safe workshop.
- Willingness to travel for training or to assist other SP stations as needed.
