Overview
United Airlines is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician (Building Engineer) to join their Technical Operations team, which is responsible for maintaining aircraft and facilities. The role offers a sign-on bonus for external candidates and requires a strong background in building maintenance, particularly in electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance with a focus on electrical systems, including AC & DC circuits and high voltage.
- Read and follow wiring schematics and work independently.
- Make low and high voltage repairs to all building electrical equipment.
- Install and repair 110/220/480 volt single and multiphase electrical circuitry and devices.
- Work with related building equipment and trades, such as air handling units, plumbing, steam fitting, fire systems, and conveyors.
- Be available to work around the clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, in all weather conditions.
Requirements
- Twenty-four months of experience in at least three of the following areas: Electrical, Structural, HVAC, Mechanical, Plumbing, or PLC electronic/computer controls.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Ability to maintain and repair all building disciplines, heavy mechanical, and welding.
- Must be able to climb and work from ladders and walk for extended periods.
- Moderate lifting required.
- Must possess sufficient tooling to perform required tasks.
- Computer experience for input and retrieval of data.
- Valid, clean, applicable state driver's license required.

- Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority.
- Facilities Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT).
- New employees must join the union within ninety (90) days of employment.
