Overview

The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) is seeking a full-time Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles used for meal distribution. Founded in 1973, PCA aims to improve the quality of life for older individuals and those with disabilities in Philadelphia.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair Home Delivered Meals (HDML) vehicles to ensure daily delivery.
  • Prioritize daily inspections of HDML vehicles for conditions that may prevent operation.
  • Perform authorized on-site repairs on PCA Meals Fleet and Downtown Fleet vehicles.
  • Document vehicle repairs, parts usage, and submit maintenance reports to PCA.
  • Conduct refrigeration preventive maintenance checks on PCA 'Hotshot' vehicles after training.
  • Communicate with the Transportation Manager regarding repairs, parts orders, and inventory.
  • Coordinate communication about vehicle repairs with contractors and vendors.
  • Report observed damage to PCA fleet vehicles and assist in accident reporting.
  • Manage inventory of Maintenance Bay Service equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste fluids according to regulations.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the PCA Transportation Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Prefer ASE certifications in brakes, steering/suspension, electrical, and refrigeration/air conditioning.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in auto maintenance and repair.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Valid driver's license with no accidents or violations in the past three years.
  • Must pass Keystone AAA driving test, physical exam, drug and alcohol screening, and criminal background check.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
