The Mechanic position involves performing maintenance and repairs on heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, and other mechanical equipment within the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Perform all phases of heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance throughout the hospital complex.
- Repair and overhaul mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, and kitchen appliances.
- Troubleshoot and repair related electrical circuits (120/277 volt).
- Demonstrate professionalism within the framework of Relationship Based Care.
- Display teamwork by treating co-workers with respect and maintaining open communication.
- Show courtesy, compassion, sensitivity, and respect in all interactions with patients and staff.
- Respond respectfully to directions and recommendations from supervisors.
- Support ongoing improvement of client satisfaction by returning calls and emails promptly.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Maintain awareness of patient/employee safety in daily responsibilities.
- Service various plumbing fixtures and operate drain cleaning equipment.
- Maintain air handling equipment and change filters.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on hospital equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic and electrical control systems.
- Service all system components such as motors, compressors, and controls.
- Complete all associated paperwork in a neat and timely manner.
- Maintain all refrigeration circuits leak tight and add refrigerant as necessary.
- Adjust equipment to assure peak operating efficiency.
- Inspect, test, and operate electrical power circuits.
- Use effective interpersonal skills in all interactions.
- Exhibit behaviors consistent with the care philosophy of Pennsylvania Hospital.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- HS diploma/GED required.
- Extensive experience performing general maintenance duties.
- General knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Completion of a trade and/or vocational school preferred.
