Overview

The Mechanic position at Republic Services involves performing repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment for Industrial Services sites, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Republic Services is a leader in the environmental services industry, providing comprehensive waste management solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders efficiently.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on trucks.
  • Operate equipment such as grinders, compressors, jacks, and hand tools.
  • Change tires as needed.
  • Perform all duties safely using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Conduct on-site and on-road repairs as required.
  • Review and sign off on Driver Pre-trip and Post-trip inspection reports.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations for on-road vehicles.
  • Complete other assignments as directed by management.
  • Adhere to all USE Management System policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work in high-stress situations.
  • CDL (A or B) with tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Technical skills for using sophisticated diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move 75 pounds repeatedly.
  • Ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Flexibility with schedule and availability to be on call.
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment.
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening.
  • Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers.
  • Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training.
  • Ability to obtain Transportation Worker (TWIC) clearance.

Additional Information

  • Must be flexible with schedule and be able to be on call on weekends.
