Primary Purpose Of This Position

Weld metal pipe together for a commercial mechanical contracting operation.

Specific Job Duties

Fuse metal pipe segments together using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and submerged arc welding. Weld pipe components in flat, vertical or overhead positions Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material Perform normal cutting and grinding tasks Ability to fit own pipe together

Other Requirements

Ability to work on a team and interact with people Punctual and regular attendance Understanding of single and three phase electrical systems Working knowledge of applicable boiler codes Strong mechanical aptitude Must have the ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays Any other duties assigned by the supervisor Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy

Education And Experience Requirements

Must be a high school or trade school graduate or have a GED Three years’ experience in pipefitting, fabricating, and welding Experience pipe welding to code is preferred Ability to obtain welding certification

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions Ability to work at heights Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally and lift and carry 40 lbs. routinely Must be able to climb and work on ladders, scaffolding and stairs Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl in order to work in tight spaces Must be able to use hands to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
