Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Traveling Pipefitter with a minimum of 4 years of trade experience to support shipbuilding and marine vessel construction. The Pipefitter will be responsible for the layout, fit-up, fabrication, and installation of piping systems using various materials in physically demanding environments.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, fabricate, and install pipe systems including flanges, valves, and fittings per engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Read and interpret trade drawings using both metric and standard measurement systems.
- Work with various pipe materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel, and stainless steel.
- Use a variety of tools including pipe threaders, cutting tools, grinders, levels, and measuring devices.
- Ensure proper alignment, fit, and tolerances during installation to meet specifications.
- Perform work safely in accordance with jobsite safety standards, including in elevated positions, tight spaces, and all-weather environments.
- Collaborate with welders and other trades to ensure proper system integration.
- Support both day and night shift operations as required by production needs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years verifiable experience as a Pipefitter or in a related piping trade.
- Ability to read and interpret piping schematics, layout drawings, and isometric diagrams.
- Solid understanding of pipe fitting techniques, tolerances, and trade practices.
- Proficient in basic math, blueprint reading, and comprehension skills.
- Experience working in shipyards or large-scale industrial environments preferred.
- Physically capable of working in confined spaces, at heights, and in demanding conditions.
- Must be willing to travel and work various shifts depending on production schedules.
- U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S. (due to federal contract requirements).
