Altom Transport is hiring an experienced 2nd Shift HM183 Cargo Tank Mechanic at our Pasadena, TX shop. You'll be working indoors, on well-maintained equipment, with the tools and parts you actually need to do the job right the first time. Requirements

Required

Active HM183 Registered Inspector status with PHMSA — or current eligibility to register (we'll help you complete registration) Minimum 2 years of diesel tractor experience Minimum 1 year of trailer/tanker experience Working knowledge of 49 CFR Parts 178, 180, and 393 Ability to read and interpret DOT regulations, OEM service manuals, and electrical/hydraulic schematics Comfortable working around liquid bulk product residue, including hazmat Own basic hand tools (we supply specialty tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment) Valid driver's license Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check Authorized to work in the United States Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces In lieu of experience, completion of an applicable technical/trade school will be recognized

Preferred

Current V, I, P, L, T, and U cargo tank inspection qualifications Hands-on experience with DOT 406, 407, 412 and MC 306, 307, 312 cargo tanks Class A or B CDL (not required — but a strong plus, and we offer pay bumps for CDL holders) ASE certifications (T-series in particular) Hazmat endorsement Welding certification (MIG/TIG on stainless or aluminum) Prior experience at a tanker carrier, petrochemical, or food-grade hauler
