Overview
As a Trailer Technician II, you'll perform mid-range diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance on trailers. This role requires proficiency in various mechanical skills and the ability to work independently while providing training to other technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform mid-range diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Conduct mid-range to advanced welding.
- Execute most repairs, preventative maintenance, and replacements in assigned classification.
- Operate with most tools, including pneumatic.
- Work independently on repair orders.
- Provide training and assistance to other technicians.
- Perform major trailer repairs.
- Diagnose and repair ABS brakes and air brake systems.
- Repair and replace suspension systems, vertical posts, sheet metal paneling, and overhead swing doors.
- Complete brake jobs.
- Perform sheet metal fabricating.
- Carry out Trailer Tech I duties.
Requirements
- Experience as a mechanic.
- Proficiency in electrical theory.
- Cutting and welding skills.
- Ability to read schematic diagrams, including electrical.
- Ability to perform intermediate repairs.
- Ability to train and develop other technicians.
- Education or equivalent.
- Current CDL.
- Current DOT certification.
- OEM certification in brakes, structural repair, overhead door, suspension, and electrical.
- Third-party tire certification.
- Welding certification.
- Completion of third-party training.
Additional Information
- Work in a team environment.
- Lift 100 lbs and carry a distance of 5 ft.
- Work sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and in a prone position.
- Work with hands over head.
- Climb and work from a ladder.
- Meet H-E-B driving qualifications.
- Possess and maintain required tools.
- Obtain DOT certification within 1 year of hire.
- Work toward ASE certifications T4, T5, T6, and T8.
