Overview
A 1st Class Structural Welder specializing in FCAW 3G/4G Structural Welding is responsible for welding together structural metal components following blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions.
Responsibilities
- Obtains the appropriate tools needed for a particular job and sets up their equipment.
- Binds together structural metal components that have been pre-assembled and tacked into place.
- Performs good, cosmetic sound welds.
- Examines work and may chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter with appropriate tools.
- Leaves little or no rework when the job is complete.
- Troubleshoots equipment.
- May gouge to remove a member, make a seam sound, or remove weld reinforcement.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 months of FCAW 3G/4G Structural welding experience is required.
- Must successfully pass a hands-on welding test that includes 3G and 4G positions.
