Overview

EGC Construction, part of the Messer family of companies, is seeking a structural steel welder for their steel erection group in Newport, KY. The company has been servicing clients since 1978 and is committed to safety and quality in construction.

Responsibilities

• Weld structural steel connections for new and retrofit steel erection projects.
• Inspect welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
• Fit, connect, and bolt up structural steel.
• Cut steel with a torch and grind as needed.
• Assist with steel erection connecting and bolt up.
• Perform equipment rigging.
• Erect pre-engineered metal buildings.
• Follow job site safety regulations and maintain a safe work area.
• Identify safety hazards to protect self and others.

Requirements

• Must be able to certify in stick structural welding.
• OSHA 10/30 Certified preferred; required before starting if not already certified.
• Lift trained.
• Experience with RTF and forklift.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have transportation and good communication skills.
• Willing to work within a 50-mile radius; willingness to travel to other states is a plus.
• Ability to work in various seasonal and weather conditions.
