Overview

The Lab Metallurgist at Aluminum Dynamics is responsible for the safe, quality, and reliable operation of the metallurgical lab, overseeing procedures, scheduling, and supervising lab technicians while communicating with metallurgists and process operations.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
• Select appropriate analysis techniques for materials and interpret resulting data.
• Generate failure analysis reports for the production team and customers.
• Maintain calibration, verification, and operation of lab equipment.
• Perform metallographic sample preparation, inspection, and characterization of aluminum materials.
• Collect data by recording and analyzing test results and maintaining accurate records.
• Support ISO/IEC 17025 and additional customer testing compliance requirements.
• Coordinate testing workflow for prompt sample turnaround while ensuring accuracy.
• Coordinate with metallurgists for testing trials and product/process improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4 year degree in Metallurgical and Materials Science Engineering or Materials Science.
• Experience with reading, understanding, and conveying technical specifications.
• Highly effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects.
• Computer literacy including Office Suite and basic database query.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced learning environment.
