Overview
This role focuses on performing high-quality MIG, TIG, and spot welding on light gauge sheet metal components, primarily working with stainless steel 18 gauge and other light metals. The position requires strong hands-on welding experience in the field and a commitment to safety, equipment care, and high-quality finishes.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding on light gauge sheet metal components with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Work specifically with stainless steel 18 gauge, ensuring clean welds that meet project specifications and standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints to understand dimensions, weld locations, and fabrication requirements.
- Cut, form, bend, and assemble sheet metal using press brakes, shears, rollers, and hand tools to create parts and assemblies.
- Inspect finished welds for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity, making adjustments or repairs as needed.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and accessories in good working condition and follow all safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with fabricators, installers, and project managers to meet production timelines and support project delivery.
- Work with materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, and cold-rolled steel in various fabrication tasks.
- Perform grinding, sanding, and finishing operations to achieve required cosmetic and functional finishes on welded components.
- Apply field welding experience to support on-site fabrication and installation activities as required.
- Consistently follow job site safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE and safe operation of hand and power tools.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a welder working with light gauge sheet metal.
- Hands-on field welding experience in active job sites or similar environments.
- Proficiency in MIG welding on light gauge sheet metal components.
- Proficiency in TIG welding, including work on stainless steel 18 gauge.
- Ability to perform spot welding on thin metals and sheet metal components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Experience working with stainless steel, including 18 gauge material.
- Skill in cutting, forming, bending, and assembling sheet metal using press brakes, shears, rollers, and hand tools.
- Ability to inspect welds for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity and correct defects when needed.
- Strong understanding of welding safety practices and proper use of PPE.
- Capability to perform grinding, sanding, and finishing to meet cosmetic and functional requirements.
- 6G welding certification.
- Experience working with aluminum, galvanized steel, and cold-rolled steel.
- Experience in fabrication environments or mechanical contracting projects.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with fabricators, installers, and project managers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished work.
- Reliable work habits and ability to follow established processes and timelines.

Additional Information
- This is an on-site role with a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Work takes place on active construction and project sites, where you will frequently work in outdoor conditions.
- You are expected to provide and maintain your own tools and personal protective equipment, including a welding hood, at all times.
- The environment is safety-focused and production-oriented, with close collaboration among welders, fabricators, and project teams.
