Overview

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) position is a full-time role on the 1st shift, responsible for supporting JARP Operations and Engineering by ensuring compliance with welding standards and procedures. The CWI will engage with various stakeholders, conduct audits, and assist in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Audit welding standards, specifications, techniques, processes, and procedures.
  • Support Operations with visual inspection of welded products and processes.
  • Assist Engineering in understanding customer welding requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports related to welding as needed.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding welding.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis for nonconformance in welded products.
  • Assist with warranty evaluation of nonconforming products.
  • Follow the internal Quality Management System audit program.
  • Work on Continuous Improvement projects with the welding team.
  • Identify nonconformities in welding processes.
  • Perform random weld audits and verify compliance with processes.
  • Identify needs for jigs and fixtures.
  • Maintain basic welding equipment and schedule maintenance.
  • Verify shelf life of welding consumables.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in similar roles, preferably in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience in mentoring and training individuals and small groups.
  • American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials.
  • Knowledge of PQR/WPS to AWS D1.1.
  • Working knowledge of NDT/NDE techniques.
  • Excellent technical drawing and blueprint interpretation skills.
  • Strong team working abilities and good negotiation skills.
  • Goal-oriented with effective self-prioritization.
  • First class communication skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy.
