Overview

This position is for a Welder in the Washington Army National Guard, specifically at the Yakima Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site. It is a permanent, excepted service role that involves performing various welding duties using different processes and tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding duties using electric, acetylene, and inert gas shielded welding processes.
• Repair, modify, or fabricate metal items including mechanical parts with close tolerances.
• Make various types of joints on light and heavy equipment.
• Weld or reinforce heavy armor plate.
• Perform precision welding on jigs, dies, engineering, and automotive equipment.
• Braise dissimilar metals and flame cut metal to size for fabrication.
• Utilize basic sheet metal tools and equipment for repairs and fabrication.
• Read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Lay out, position, and clamp work; select type of rod and size of tip for welding.
• Adjust equipment for necessary heat and maintain proper welding technique.
