Overview
This position is for a Welder in the Washington Army National Guard, specifically at the Yakima Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site. It is a permanent, excepted service role that involves performing various welding duties using different processes and tools.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding duties using electric, acetylene, and inert gas shielded welding processes.
- Repair, modify, or fabricate metal items including mechanical parts with close tolerances.
- Make various types of joints on light and heavy equipment.
- Weld or reinforce heavy armor plate.
- Perform precision welding on jigs, dies, engineering, and automotive equipment.
- Braise dissimilar metals and flame cut metal to size for fabrication.
- Utilize basic sheet metal tools and equipment for repairs and fabrication.
- Read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
- Lay out, position, and clamp work; select type of rod and size of tip for welding.
- Adjust equipment for necessary heat and maintain proper welding technique.
