Job Description

Overview

The Pipefitter plans and lays out work for installing or replacing piping in compressor systems for medical air and vacuum systems. This role requires a broad knowledge of equipment and systems, as well as practical knowledge of pipefitting and plumbing trades.

Responsibilities

  • Repair piping or associated equipment to complex systems.
  • Disassemble complex devices to determine proper operation and make internal repairs.
  • Program computer operated systems such as lawn sprinkler and fuel oil systems.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and manuals of varying complexity.
  • Prepare requests for parts, materials, tools, and services as needed.
  • Size, layout, and integrate systems associated with HVAC operations.
  • Use shop mathematics to determine sizing of pipes and connections.
  • Perform pipe welding on systems operating at high pressure and temperatures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations on contaminated drain systems.
  • Troubleshoot steam distribution, chilled water, heating water, and medical gas systems.
  • Operate equipment such as threading machines, welding machines, and pipe cutting machines.

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Physical exertion involving lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects of varying weight.
  • Exposure to heat, restricted ventilation, and poor illumination in equipment rooms.
  • Exposure to various hazardous materials with provided protective clothing and equipment.
