Overview

This position serves as a Pipefitter within the Facility Management Service of the Aleda E Lutz VA Medical Center, located in Saginaw, Michigan. The role involves installing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining various utility systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a journeyman Pipefitter assigned to the Pipe Shop within the Utility Systems Section.
  • Install, modify, repair, and maintain new and existing utility systems and equipment.
  • Work with low, medium, and high-pressure piping systems, natural gas, propane, fuel oil, medical gas systems, steam, condensate, vacuum, sanitary, drainage, and compressed air.
  • Maintain and install equipment such as steam humidifiers, water heaters, boilers, and circulating pumps.
  • Install or repair copper, galvanized, black iron, cast iron, stainless, rubber, CPVC, and PVC pipes.
  • Join, seal, and test systems for proper pressures to ensure leak-free joints.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on various systems throughout the Medical Center.
  • Monitor the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) daily.
  • Purchase materials and services through computer-based programs.
  • Install, modify, and maintain systems associated with the sprinkler system.
  • Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to install, modify, and repair systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 07:00am-3:30pm
  • Employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators.
