Overview

This position is located in the US Coast Department of Homeland Security, U. S. Coast Guard, BASE Elizabeth City, Utilities Branch of Facilities Engineering Department, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a pipefitter and to perform duties that require skill in the pipefitter and plumber trades.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify and repair new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment.
• Set up systems routes, place and cut route openings, and place hangers for proper pitch and elevation.
• Plan and complete the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment.
• Join, seal, and test systems and equipment for proper pressures, leak-free joints, and operation.
• Install, modify and repair new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment.
• Locate and tap main lines, set up system routes, and determine and install valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation.
