Overview
The Welder/Metal Fabricator at CalPortland is responsible for repairing and fabricating various processing equipment and components used in aggregate and ready-mix plants. The role requires a combination of welding skills and metal fabrication expertise to ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery.
Responsibilities
- Maintain or repair equipment used to process aggregates, including conveyors, screen decks, cone crushers, feeders, and pumps.
- Fabricate and assemble structural metal products, such as frameworks or shells for machinery, ovens, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for buildings and bridges.
- Ensure a safe work environment by following the company's policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with AWS certification, lathes, milling machines, and other related equipment.
- Ability to read plans and blueprints.
- Experience with shears, benders, and other metalworking equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work and weld in various settings including heights, tight spaces, and awkward positions.
- 5 years’ experience as a certified welder preferred.
