Overview

Join Collins Aerospace as a Welder/Brazer 4 and play a key role in supporting the repair, restoration, and development of precision components used in aerospace applications. This hands-on position involves performing TIG welding on stainless steel and steel parts while ensuring quality and dimensional requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Layout work requirements and obtain needed equipment for routine repair and alteration operations.
  • Blend, grind, or polish weld ensuring specified minimum wall requirement is met.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on new R&D projects and work with Redline Drawings.
  • Manage prototype welding projects which may constitute 50% of the job.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to measure repaired parts.
  • Complete production paperwork accurately.
  • Interpret complicated prints, drawings, and process sheets for various layouts.
  • Perform standard hand and machine welding operations to fabricate or restore parts.
  • Repair simple cracks and other routine imperfections using measuring instruments.
  • Arrange for repair or replacement of equipment as necessary.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures.
  • Assist others with new process tryouts and specialized assignments.
  • Engage in physical tasks such as bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS diploma or equivalent, or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of TIG welding experience with stainless steel and steel.
  • Welding Certificate Level 1 Welding (GTAW Stainless Steel) is required.
