Position Title: CNC Machine Op/Welder
Wage: $26.00-$27.00 per hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 7:00am-4:00pm (Mon-Fri)
QPS Employment Group has a great CNC Machine Op/Welder position available at a company in Troy, MO. This is a 1st shift position with the opportunity for hire.
CNC Machine Op/Welder Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines, including mills, lathes, horizontal mills, vertical mills, surface grinders, and related equipment.
- Machine, cut, bore, thread, turn, and fabricate parts from raw material according to customer specifications, work orders, blueprints, process sheets, and samples.
- Review drawings, process sheets, measurements, materials, tolerances, and job-specific instructions before beginning work.
- Plan, lay out, and perform machining operations, including difficult setups and specialized machining methods.
- Select proper cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and fixturing methods for the material and workpiece.
- Set up parts using vices, magnets, angle plates, and other approved fixturing methods.
- Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, radius gauges, and other inspection tools to verify part accuracy.
- Maintain quality standards, complete accurate records, and communicate production or quality concerns promptly.
- Perform TIG/MIG welding or assist with welding-related work when qualified and assigned.
- Deburr parts, clear chips, clean holes, and maintain clean, organized work areas.
- Use proper lifting tools and techniques, including hoists, scissor lifts, magnets, chain hoists, and eye bolts when handling material.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and supplies in good working condition and report concerns when repair or maintenance is needed.
- Participate in required safety training and follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Mentor or assist less-experienced employees as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and company operations.
CNC Machine Op/Welder Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Machining certificate, technical training, associate degree, or related hands-on experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of related machining, machine operation, or machine shop experience preferred; 3-5 years of experience is a plus.
- Experience setting up mills and lathes without close supervision preferred.
- CNC programming, CNC lathe, CNC mill, and/or manual machining experience preferred.
- Prior welding experience required or strongly preferred; TIG welding experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, process sheets, work orders, and job-specific instructions.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools accurately.
- Knowledge of machining equipment, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, fixturing, and material setup methods.
- Strong math skills, time management skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license preferred.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethics are required.
- Must be willing to supply basic tools needed to perform the job, if required.
- Safety-minded and aware of hazards around machinery, moving equipment, and metal materials.
- Able to work independently while supporting overall shop production.
- Accurate, organized, and attentive to quality.
- Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn and improve.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work as part of a small team.
- Willing to help newer employees learn safe and proper work methods.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a machine and fabrication shop environment.
- Ability to lift, move, and position materials up to 50 lbs. using proper equipment and techniques.
- Ability to safely work around machinery, sharp materials, moving equipment, noise, dust, grease, oil, and metal fabrication processes.
- Must follow PPE, housekeeping, and safety requirements at all times.
