Overview
The Welder position involves a variety of welding processes including mig, tig, robotic, and gas applications. The role requires welding metals and alloys of different shapes and sizes according to blueprints and work orders, with a focus on safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Mark-up incorrect drawings and bills of material and submit to engineering for change.
- Communicate with engineers and designers regarding production tool problems.
- Fabricate components from blueprints and verbal instructions.
- Perform assignments in accordance with written quality procedures.
- Use cutting torches, grinders, and similar metal working equipment to complete welding projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to be on feet for up to twelve hours and handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Capable of lifting and moving up to 15 pounds and frequently lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work near moving mechanical parts of machinery and electrically activated devices.
- Occasional exposure to airborne particles.
- Perform math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Knowledge of decimals, fractions, and metric/English conversions.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to reduce variation and waste.
- Train new welders using a specified training format.
- Lift and position parts into fixtures.
