Overview
The Pipefitter will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. The role involves fabricating pipe spools and structural supports while ensuring adherence to safety regulations and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan details of work order procedures and gather required tools and materials.
- Fabricate various pipe spools and structural supports using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.
- Weld small and large diameter carbon and stainless-steel piping and structural members.
- Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines performing the same job.
- Maintain and repair all machinery.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors.
- Follow and enforce strict safety regulations.
- Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating or damage.
- Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces.
- Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
- Notify supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding.
- Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools for technical plans.
- Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs.
- Basic understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Knowledge of Mig, Tig, and flux core welding.
