Overview
The GAG/SAW Operator is responsible for operating and assisting with Gag and saw machines in accordance with plant policies and procedures, ensuring safe and compliant operations during their shift.
Responsibilities
- Follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
- Report to the immediate supervisor for daily task briefing.
- Provide and assist with maintenance on the equipment.
- Maintain good housekeeping ethics and keep work areas clear of debris.
- Assist in verification and recording of production in the ERP System and required documents.
- Install specified drift mandrel in the machine using hand tools and insert pipe into the head of the machine.
- Test each joint and properly mark joints using appropriate bands.
- Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up.
- Assist in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
- Communicate with the crew to achieve a quality product.
- Assist in charging and discharging material on racks.
- Assist with documentation and technical devices for recording production.
- Communicate any problems with material and equipment to the supervisor.
- Verify paperwork to perform the job according to requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- At least 1 year of job training experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe inspection industry is preferable but not required.
- Ability to organize data and multi-task with excellent time management.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of applicable location safety rules and regulations.

- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
- Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
- Ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
- Ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
- Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
