Job Description

Overview

The Utility Operator position involves performing general repairs and routine maintenance on equipment, welding and fabricating parts, and ensuring safety compliance while filling in for other operators as needed. The role requires effective communication and knowledge of welding processes and construction equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Makes general repairs to equipment, as required
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment, as required
  • Welds and fabricates parts as needed to facilitate repairs
  • Completes all required documentation of service work performed
  • Fills in for the Plant Operator or Loader Operator when regular staff are out
  • Follows all company policies and procedures in accordance with guidelines established by Arcosa management
  • Ensure that all work activities are conducted in a safe manner
  • Other duties/responsibilities that may be assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in aggregates or similar industry, required
  • Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization
  • Able to read and understand basic reports, and complete routine mathematics
  • Has working knowledge of various types of welding processes (sheet metal, ironwork etc.)
  • Has working knowledge of various types of construction equipment and machines

Additional Information

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time at conveyor belt operation
  • Ability to climb heights of up to 75 feet on a regular basis
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or pull 50+ pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in dusty, loud noise environment
  • Required to wear safety equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, steel toed boots, ear plugs, respirator, gloves, and various other similar items as required
