Bonduelle Americas is a certified B Corp focused on promoting a flexitarian lifestyle through its plant-rich products. The Mechanic 3 role involves maintaining equipment to support production and ensure the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Follow good manufacturing practices and safety guidelines.
- Perform basic mechanical adjustments like tensioning drive belts and conveyor belts.
- Work safely around moving equipment and conveyors in a wet environment.
- Be proficient in the use of standard hand tools.
- Perform building mechanical repairs including overhead door track and panel replacement.
- Change motors, pulleys, gear boxes, and perform basic welding.
- Perform simple plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains.
- Troubleshoot simple mechanical systems like chain drives and pumps.
- Replace slicer, cutter, dicer blade assemblies and perform necessary adjustments.
- Read piping diagrams and identify functions of components for air and water distribution systems.
- Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on all equipment and building structures.
- Have general knowledge of packaging production equipment.
- Read and complete work orders, paperwork, and schematics.
- Read and rebuild pneumatic hoists, gearboxes, and replace mechanical shaft seals.
- Install production equipment on elevated platforms.
- Service and replace pressure and prox switches and photo eyes.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshoot systems up to 480 volts with complicated electrical controls.
- Program Variable frequency drives and read electrical schematics.
- Handle blade housing and lock out/tag out equipment as necessary.
- Safely operate shop equipment such as grinders and power tools.
- Comply with SQF Regulatory Programs.
- Perform preventive maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience and basic mechanical skills.
- GED/High School Diploma preferred.
- Willingness to work in a cold environment.
- Reading, writing, and speaking English preferred.
- Knowledge of GMPs and safety guidelines.
- Forklift and scissors lift safety knowledge.
- Understanding of OSHA, FDA, and GMP requirements.
- Familiarity with cleaning and degreasing techniques.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices from 24 volts to 480 volts.
- Understanding of chain drive sprocket and gearbox ratios.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
