Overview
The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor based in Southern California, is seeking a Mechanical Assembler I to assemble and install parts for military mechanical and electromechanical equipment. This role involves working with various tools and equipment to ensure high-quality assembly and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Align and fit sub and structural assemblies by installing and connecting parts, fittings, and assemblies.
- Install fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, helicoils, keenserts, and adhesives.
- Use basic hand tools, i.e., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer, ratchets & sockets, ruler, calipers.
- Set-up, operate, and maintain a variety of hand drilling and riveting equipment (Cherry & Huck).
- Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points.
- Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts, and verify sizes and fitting tolerances in order to ensure proper fit and clearance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, or identities and relationships of parts.
- Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
- Identify defects and take appropriate measures to communicate and follow established non-conformance procedures.
- Rework and/or repair assembled parts and products according to engineering specification changes.
- Perform all work in accordance with the highest quality standards and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1-2 years mechanical assembly experience.
- Specific technical or vocational training or certification may be required; required to pass mechanical aptitude test.
- Basic reading skills.
- Must be able to follow directions.
- Basic computer navigation and utilization skills.
- Ability to perform work accurately, timely, and thoroughly.
- Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated skills.
- Must be able to speak/read/write English.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
