Overview
Thiess is a global leader in sustainable mining services and resource solutions, seeking to fill multiple Maintenance Leading Hand positions in Arizona. The role involves supervising day-to-day operations, performance, and maintenance of mining shifts to ensure safety, productivity, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs.
- Conduct preventative maintenance in-shop and in the mine/pit.
- Complete major component change outs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Weld steel components as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, and work orders.
- Comply with all safety, health and environmental rules and procedures.
- Work with the team to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5 years minimum experience in repairing diesel heavy mining equipment.
- 2-year minimum exposure to mining equipment (CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr).
- 1-year minimum supervisory experience in a maintenance role.
- Experience with major component replacement, overhauls, and machine rebuilds.
- Mobile equipment diagnostics experience.
- Knowledge of repairs and servicing of dozers, haul trucks, blades, scrapers, loaders, and light vehicles.
- Welding experience with mobile, heavy mining equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 4 years of vocational training, certifications, or trade school degree in relevant maintenance, mechanics, or welding.
- MSHA Part 48 Certification (Thiess will provide training if needed).
