Builders FirstSource is America’s largest supplier of building materials, offering tools, training, and resources to empower employees in their careers. The Machine Operator position involves operating specialized machines for various wood processing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Selects and sets proper machine control settings according to work order specifications.
• Selects material to be machined, including various types of wood stock.
• Starts machine and positions wood stock for cutting.
• Measures cut stock to verify dimensions against specifications.
• Cuts, routes, and bores wood stock according to specifications.
• Writes correct labels on cut stock or prepared products.
• Removes cut stock from machine and delivers it to the appropriate location.
• Maintains production count and delivers paperwork to team leader or manager.
• Prepares cut inventory for future use.
• Cleans equipment, floors, and work areas according to safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of prior experience in related millwork, construction, or lumber industries.
• 6 months of prior experience working on machines with good mechanical aptitude.
• Understanding of products and components used for mill production.
• Attention to quality, quantity, and safety.

Additional Information

• The employee is regularly required to lift up to 100 pounds.
• The work environment may be very loud.
