Overview

The Chassis Mobile Mechanic will perform mechanical repairs and inspections in a depot/repair facility environment, focusing on chassis repairs including brakes, welding, and part replacements. The role requires adherence to FMCSA standards and effective use of mobile technology for logging work.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair all chassis defects.
  • Repair ABS systems, air brake systems, wheel ends, and structural assemblies.
  • Perform some welding and fabrication of chassis.
  • Use a mobile app to log work orders and document repairs.
  • Drive a mobile truck to locations to complete repairs on DCLI chassis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in trailer/chassis mechanics.
  • FMCSA and brake certifications required.
  • Knowledge in MIG and/or ARC welding and torch use.
  • Knowledge of AAR, IICL, and DOT rules and criteria.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment with some mobile repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work all shifts as required, including weekends.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and work order processing apps.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving history.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
