AdvanSix is a key player in global supply chains, providing essential products across various industries. The Multi-Craft Mechanic position involves maintaining and repairing equipment in a 24/7 operational plant environment.
Responsibilities
- Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, fans, and gearboxes.
- Maintaining shafts, bearings, seals, packing, couplings, clutches, and brakes.
- Working on lubrication and hydraulic systems.
- Maintaining piping systems and associated components.
- Performing equipment balancing and laser alignments.
- Calculating dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments.
- Measuring, examining, and testing completed units to detect defects using precision instruments.
- Selecting appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work.
- Performing and documenting predictive and preventive maintenance work.
- Rigging and lifting equipment as needed.
- Using shop machining tools.
- Participating in plant safety programs and understanding Process Safety Management and OSHA requirements.
- Supporting job repair plan development and equipment parts identification.
- Suggesting and implementing continuous improvement ideas.
- Working safely with hazardous materials.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Substantial understanding of maintenance and rotating equipment repair.
- Completion of a formalized Mechanical Maintenance Training Program or minimum of 4 years maintenance experience as a multi-craft mechanic in a chemical plant, refinery, or similar industrial facility.
- Ability to cross-train in pipefitting and welding.
- Field experience in repairing process plant fixed and rotating equipment.
- Knowledge of tools and methods for troubleshooting and maintaining industrial production equipment.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques for working with high-speed machinery.
- Knowledge of mechanical fits and tolerances.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance.
- Knowledge of lock-out/tag-out and work permitting processes preferred.
- Ability to operate and maintain grinding equipment.
- Ability to perform basic math computations.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action in an industrial setting.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.
- Possess a strong work ethic and initiative to learn processes.
- Responsible for providing own tools on job start date.
- Willing and able to work overtime to support 24/7 plant operations.

Additional Information
- Works five (5) eight (8) hour shifts with potential schedule changes.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights greater than 50ft.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to perform work in PPE for extended periods.
- Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
