Overview
The Pipeline Worker position is a permanent role within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, specifically in the Philadelphia District, located in Pedricktown, NJ. This job involves working as part of a crew to install, maintain, and repair pipeline systems and associated structures.
Responsibilities
- Lay and break discharge pipeline and construct and repair disposal systems.
- Use connection bars to lock sections of pipeline together and extend lines by rolling pipe.
- Repair breaks in lines by banding ruptured areas and splicing broken sections with rubber sleeves.
- Perform rough carpentry and steel work in building pipeline trestles and other structures.
- Handle and fasten hawsers and mooring lines, and perform deck maintenance.
- Operate winches and booms, and assist in connecting, disconnecting, and repairing pipeline.
- Use hand tools to assist tradesmen in repairing and overhauling equipment.
- Perform landscaping operations and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
Requirements
- Ability to perform common pipeline installation and repair tasks without more than normal supervision.
- Must demonstrate ability to complete tasks from beginning to end as described in instructions.
- Ability to interpret instructions and specifications.
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
- Must be able to lift objects weighing over 50 pounds.
- Must possess or obtain a valid state Driver's License.
- Must undergo and pass a background clearance and a pre-employment physical examination.
Additional Information
- Position subject to successful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Occasional travel outside the Philadelphia District for training or assistance may be required.
- Welding Certification must be obtained within the first two years of employment.
