Overview
The Motion Automation Intelligence Sr. Machinist operates and adjusts various types of machines to create and repair metal parts, often working from drawings and instructions. This role requires a high level of skill and analysis to ensure precision in machining operations.
Responsibilities
- Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and grinders.
- Measures and tests completed units for defects and conformance to specifications.
- Monitors machine feed and speed during the machining process.
- Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition.
- Studies blueprints and engineering information to determine fabrication methods.
- Programs numerically controlled machine tools and diagnoses malfunctions.
- Lays out, measures, and marks metal stock for cuts.
- Fits and assembles parts to make or repair machine tools.
- Installs repaired or new parts into equipment.
- Designs fixtures and tooling to meet engineering needs.
- Supports metalworking projects from planning through testing.
- Tests experimental models under simulated conditions.
- May assist lower-level employees with troubleshooting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and five or more years of shop experience.
- Knowledge of various metals and measurements used in machining processes.
- Knowledge of machinist, CAD, and/or CAM software.
- Knowledge of production processes and quality control techniques.
- Broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools.
- Advanced milling experience on Acer and Proto Track knee mills.
- Proficient MIG/TIG welding skills on aluminum and stainless steel.
- Advanced WEDM experience.
