Overview

Shuttlewagon, a Wabtec Company, is seeking a welder to collaborate in producing custom-built mobile material handling machinery for rail markets. The role involves welding, assembly, and quality assurance to meet product specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Weld fabricated parts, components, or units at floor stations.
  • Test and calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
  • Identify units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repair as necessary.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions.
  • Interface with engineering to accurately communicate information.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities or events.
  • Adhere to Quality Management System Requirements.
  • Follow and maintain 5S activities.
  • Read and follow standard work, BOM’s, blueprints, and other diagrams/instructions.
  • Obtain necessary tools and equipment.
  • Handle material, tools, and equipment manually or with jib crane.
  • Prepare machinery for shipping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5+ years in custom build shop preferred.
  • 2 years of MIG experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to operate a computer to read and input data.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and read measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.
  • Safety minded.
  • Ability to think critically and troubleshoot problems.

Additional Information

  • Employee is required to wear appropriate PPE such as steel toe boots and safety glasses.
  • Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Employee will be working in typical manufacturing conditions including seasonal temperature variations.
