Overview
Shuttlewagon, a Wabtec Company, is seeking a welder to collaborate in producing custom-built mobile material handling machinery for rail markets. The role involves welding, assembly, and quality assurance to meet product specifications.
Responsibilities
- Weld fabricated parts, components, or units at floor stations.
- Test and calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.
- Use hand and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.
- Identify units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repair as necessary.
- Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions.
- Interface with engineering to accurately communicate information.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities or events.
- Adhere to Quality Management System Requirements.
- Follow and maintain 5S activities.
- Read and follow standard work, BOM’s, blueprints, and other diagrams/instructions.
- Obtain necessary tools and equipment.
- Handle material, tools, and equipment manually or with jib crane.
- Prepare machinery for shipping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3-5+ years in custom build shop preferred.
- 2 years of MIG experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to operate a computer to read and input data.
- Ability to operate hand tools and read measuring devices.
- Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics.
- Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.
- Safety minded.
- Ability to think critically and troubleshoot problems.
Additional Information
- Employee is required to wear appropriate PPE such as steel toe boots and safety glasses.
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Employee will be working in typical manufacturing conditions including seasonal temperature variations.
