Overview

The Shop Pipe Welder at RK Industries is a skilled role focused on producing high-quality welds and assemblies while adhering to industry standards. The position involves working with advanced equipment and collaborating with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate trade specific machinery and tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Identify product defects and communicate them to the project foreman.
• Follow P&IDs for assembly tracks on projects.
• Create weldment set-ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirements.
• Work with overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts.
• Train and improve skills of other fabricators and welders.
• Maintain weld machines using preventative maintenance methods.
• Evaluate weld machine performance to improve cycle times.
• Assist shop foreman with production tracking.
• Communicate order status to the foreman or shop superintendent.
• Prioritize workflow through effective communication.
• Perform prioritized work assignments as directed.
• Maintain welder certification per specifications.
• Perform X-Ray Quality Welds on various piping and vessels.
• Fit up X-ray quality weld joints using shop blueprints.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience, with a minimum of 3 years in welding preferred.
• Familiarity with welding on a rotator.
• Knowledge of various welding techniques including MIG and ARC.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and welding techniques.
• Knowledge of pipe trade tools.
• Must pass a 6G FCAW weld test prior to hiring.
• Must pass a 6G GMAW weld test within one week of hire.
• Must provide a set of hand tools within 60 days of hire.
• Must meet production goals within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Requires judgment or initiative in resolving issues.
