Job Description

Overview

The Welder position involves joining metals using GTAW and GMAW welding processes, as well as cutting metals with Oxy-Fuel or plasma Arc cutting equipment. Candidates must be proficient in welding thin gage aluminum and able to pass various welding tests per AWS codes and Military Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receive instructions verbally or from job cards and detailed prints.
  • Perform up to three types of welding processes, including GMAW and GTAW.
  • Read and understand blueprints and associated welding symbols.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Assist with and construct welding jigs and fixtures.
  • Select proper welding parameters and electrodes for various metals.
  • Perform tack welding and use Oxygen/Fuel torch for heating and cutting.
  • Chip, grind, and clean welds as necessary.
  • Perform tasks associated with welding, including preparation and inspection.
  • Use test equipment to check work.
  • Aid in designing and debugging new welding fixtures in senior positions.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years minimum related experience.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and convert between fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and routings.
