Overview

Austin Industrial is a leader in self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft services for industrial companies in the U.S. The Boilermaker role involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects for repair.
  • Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
  • Inspect assembled vessels or components for defects.
  • Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
  • Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy sections.
  • Bell, bead, or weld pressure vessel tube ends for leakproof joints.
  • Lay out and mark bending and cutting lines on heavy metal.
  • Install various components in drums of water tube boilers.
  • Study blueprints to determine dimensions and relationships of parts.
  • Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or parts.
  • Shape seams and joints of pressure vessel sections for proper fit.
  • Position and secure structural parts to boiler frames or tanks.
  • Locate and mark reference points on boiler foundations.
  • Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels or piping.
  • Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and solvents.
  • Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
  • Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.

Requirements

  • No minimum education requirements.
  • 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
  • NCCER certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • TWIC Card.
