Overview

Austin Industrial is a leading provider of maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Boilermaker Helper assists in the construction, assembly, maintenance, and repair of stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Boilermaker in construction, assembly, maintenance, and repair of stationary steam boilers.
• Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats.
• Use hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, or turnbuckles.
• Assist in testing assembled vessels.
• Engage in the direct cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces.
• Assist in the inspection and repair of boiler fittings.
• Convey tools, equipment, and parts to the work area.
• Clean work areas and place salvageable material in bins.
• Attach rigging and signal crane or hoist operators to lift heavy sections.
• Bolt or unbolt assemblies using hand tools.
• May install packings, catalysts, and desiccants in vessels.
• Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts.
• Lay out plate, sheet steel, or other heavy metal.
• Install manholes, handholes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, or feedwater connections.
• Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or structural parts.
• Shape seams, joints, or irregular edges of pressure vessel sections.
• Position, align, and secure structural parts or related assemblies to boiler frames.
• Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or piping.
• Clean pressure vessel equipment.
• Install refractory bricks or other heat-resistant materials in fireboxes.
• Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.

Requirements

• No minimum education requirements.
• A Valid Driver’s License and a TWIC Card are required.
• 6+ months experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
