Overview
At UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services, the Resident Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components of residential appliances. Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components of residential appliances.
- Install, adjust, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks including plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs.
- Use appropriate safe practices and work methods while performing duties.
- Write concise and accurate reports and complete logs of work performed.
- Load and unload mechanical equipment from ground level and elevated surfaces.
- Interact with various department contacts and UCLA personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years previous experience working on HVAC equipment and proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential kitchen equipment.
- General knowledge of refrigeration equipment and repair techniques.
- Working knowledge of plumbing procedures and device repair.
- Knowledge of heating, ventilation, refrigeration equipment, and distribution systems.
- Familiarity with 120/208V electrical systems and testing equipment.
- Ability to perform semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry repairs.
- Skill in operating hand and power tools.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to lift tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to drive a pick-up truck, van, or electric cart.
- Knowledge of legal requirements and safety codes related to refrigeration systems.
- Demonstrated ability to perform installation, maintenance, and repairs of residential appliances.
Additional Information
- Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
