Overview
The Senior Maintenance Technician position involves skilled labor in maintenance, repair, and construction of City/BLW facilities, including woodworking, welding, plumbing, and electrical work. The role includes supervising other maintenance technicians and managing various construction and repair projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled labor in maintenance, repair, and construction of facilities.
- Supervise Maintenance Technicians I and II as assigned.
- Design, plan, and construct new structures and fixtures.
- Repair and replace City/BLW facilities as needed.
- Organize and arrange labor and materials for projects.
- Interpret and explain blueprints and building plans.
- Recommend independent contractors when necessary.
- Provide supervision and inspections for quality control.
- Deliver materials and heavy equipment to job sites.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience with building trades or 5 years with vocational certification.
- Experience in woodworking and finish carpentry.
- Skill in ARC, wire feed, and gas welding.
- Ability to repair and replace roofing systems.
- Skilled in sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience operating heavy equipment safely.
- Familiarity with all types of painting applications.
- Ability to set up forms and pour concrete finishes.
- Experience in window and door repair and replacement.
- Knowledge of basic electrical and wiring.
- Ability to create job designs and read blueprints.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to supervise and organize work crews.
- Skill in applying shop mathematics.
- Familiarity with building construction safety practices.
- Good physical condition to lift moderate to heavy objects.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a physical examination and drug screen.
- Valid Georgia CDL driver's license with a satisfactory driving history.
