Overview
Multi Image Group (MIG) is a leading live event, exhibit, and experiential agency seeking a skilled Welding Fabricator to join their Engineering & Fabrication team. The role involves fabricating high-quality structural and scenic components for various live events while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- MIG & TIG weld aluminum, steel, and stainless-steel components.
- Fabricate custom structures, trusses, carts, platforms, and event/scenic fabrication assemblies.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, CAD files, engineering documents, and production schedules.
- Operate fabrication equipment including saws, ironworkers, brakes, drill presses, plasma cutters, and shop machinery.
- Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet project specifications and deadlines.
- Support installations, site operations, and onsite modifications as needed.
- Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure quality, fit, and structural integrity.
- Troubleshoot fabrication or assembly issues during production and installation.
- Design, build, and modify fixtures, jigs, templates, and holding setups to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain organized work areas, tools, and equipment; follow OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Track materials, manage consumables, and assist with inventory and procurement needs.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to optimize workflow and fabrication processes.
- Assist with inventory tracking, equipment maintenance, and other shop operations as needed.
Requirements
- Local to South Florida and willing to work in an office Monday-Friday with additional overtime hours as needed.
- 3+ years of professional welding and fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in TIG welding aluminum sheet metal required; MIG and steel welding experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and interpret technical plans.
- Experience working with structural steel, aluminum extrusion systems, and scenic fabrication preferred.
- Familiarity with event production, entertainment fabrication, tradeshow exhibits, or custom manufacturing environments preferred.
- Ability to safely operate shop tools and fabrication machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing production schedules.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in active fabrication and warehouse environments for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying indoor/outdoor event environments.
- Experience with touring productions, scenic automation, or custom staging systems is preferred.
- Forklift and aerial lift certification is preferred.
- Basic understanding of rigging and load-bearing structures is preferred.
- Familiarity with CAD software or CNC fabrication processes is preferred.
